Oliver Jones
Oliver (Oli) Jones is a Professor of Chemistry at RMIT University, Melbourne. He obtained his PhD from Imperial College London. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Cambridge and a lecturer at the University of Durham before moving to RMIT in 2012. Oliver’s research uses mass spectrometry to track pollutants in the environment and assess their effects on biological systems. He has received over 20 awards, including the ANZSMS Bowie Medal for Mass Spectrometry and the National Measurement Institute Barry Inglis Medal. He is also very keen to communicate science to the public. He has been featured widely on TV, radio, and in newspapers and can be found promoting science on Bluesky, X (Twitter), Instagram, Mastodon, and TikTok. Outside the lab, Oli enjoys running and has completed over 30 marathons
